MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A Cutler Bay woman is now being charged with Grand Theft for snatching a Pomeranian puppy from a West Miami Dade veterinary office that was caught on camera.
A judge placed Madelyn Acosta on bail of $ 5,000 Friday morning and ordered her to stay at least 150 meters from the Best Care Animal Clinic.

Dognapping took place there on June 4th on SW 8th Street on 98th Avenue.
According to police reports, a surveillance video showed the 45-year-old Cutler Bay woman, sitting in the clinic’s lobby, “opened a black bag that did not belong to her and pulled out a small dog without the owner’s permission. Then she hid the little dog under her shirt and went out. “
Immediately after the incident, the dog’s owner, Lenier Mesa, said a relative went to the clinic with the 8-week-old puppy named Panda to get his health certificate. He said the dog was snatched away from him while he was paying at the counter.
