Wittenberg (dpa / MV) – The list of the AfD for the state election of September 26th made slow progress on Saturday in Wittenberg (Ludwigslust-Parsheim district). The party was able to identify three candidates within eight hours. Several applicants ran for each of the eleventh individual positions. The state election meeting, in which almost 200 party members took part, is to last until late at night and until Sunday.

The meeting in Wittenberg is a continuation of a state election meeting in Chemnitz (Vorpommern-Greifswald) a month ago. The party was only tenth on the list. The AfD parliamentary group leader Nikolaus Kramer was elected as the first candidate. In second place followed the MP Horst Forster, in third place followed Tomas de Jesus Fernandez, who is also a member of the state parliament. The AfD currently comprises 14 of the 71 MPs in the Schwerin state parliament, making it the largest opposition faction.

On Saturday Michael Meister from Rostock was elected 11th, Jan-Philippe Tadsen from Schwerin 12th and Jens Holger Schneider from the Schwerin state parliament was elected 13th. The AfD wants to occupy the list places in individual votes up to 20th place, after which there will be votes from fifth to 30th place in two blocks.
