CENTRAL – The Loud Energetic Noisy Award Cheerleader Scholarship Fund was unable to hold its annual awards banquet due to circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing orders.

However, members of the group vowed not to be stopped by the corona virus and asked Mayor Benjamin Florsheim for help, according to a message from President Trayce Santoro. A small award ceremony took place on July 15th on the lawn of the town hall.

Florsheim made the presentation special with encouraging words and a photo shoot, said Santoro.

This year’s scholarship recipients are Brianna Sebastian from West Haven High School and Ashley Rodriguez from Mercy High School.



Sebastian’s check was for $ 250. Rodriquez is a two-time winner – she awarded $ 250 in 2019 and another $ 250 this year. Athletes can advertise their freshman through senior year and potentially earn a total of $ 1,000 by the time they go to college, Santoro said.

Sebastian will study journalism / communication at Georgia State University. Ashley Rodriguez will attend the University of Connecticut with a tie major.

“It is also a pleasure to announce that both athletes will continue to be cheerleaders in college. Congratulations to our 2020 recipients and thank Mayor Florsheim for your support, ”wrote Santoro.
