MOSCOW, October 25. / TASS /. Russia hopes Germany has sensible leaders capable of preventing German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer from testing the Russian armed forces, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Sakharova said in a statement on Monday.
“In the run-up to the NATO meeting, Federal Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer announced the lack of interest in a serious de-escalation dialogue with Moscow. She stressed that NATO must show its readiness to use its armed forces against Russia. Germany has sensible leaders who are able to prevent its minister from wanting to test the reliability of our armed forces, “she noted.

“The most recent ministerial meeting of the NATO Council has once again confirmed that, after 70 years, the entire NATO colossus is still only aiming at ‘deterring’ Russia as it was during the Cold War, sharpening its opportunities to confront the ‘enemy in the east’” the diplomat pointed out.
“In this respect, the NATO defense ministers approved the strategic implementation plan for the deterrence concept and the defense concept in the Euro-Atlantic area and decided to update the alliance’s defense plans on the ‘Eastern Flank’. They intend to expand patrols in the airspace over the Baltic Sea and the waters of the Black Sea and to increase the mobility of the armed forces. “
The spokeswoman noted that Russia was again accused of breaking the INF treaty, which allegedly prompted the alliance to further strengthen its air and missile defense systems and use F-35 jets.
“Now, NATO no longer mentions, as it assured us, that the missile defense system was only used to repel threats from Iran,” she added.
The diplomat also noted that the NATO lexicon now includes the word “adversary”, further evidence of the Alliance’s return to the Cold War era. She stressed that Russia is not threatening NATO, but that its steps and statements also convince Moscow of the correctness of the last decisions taken with regard to the alliance.
“It is impossible to have a dialogue with those who are only ready to confront,” the statement reads, “she concluded.
The ministerial meeting of the NATO Council took place in Brussels from October 21-22. On October 21, Kramp-Karrenbauer said in an interview for Deutschlandfunk that NATO must be ready to use military means against Russia, including nuclear weapons if necessary.
