On Wednesday afternoon, June 1, a pedestrian was hit by a car at a crosswalk just off Main Street in Great Barrington. According to a media statement from Great Barrington Police, the pedestrian was fine at the crosswalk and the driver was charged.
Great Barrington Police report that just before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, a vehicle traveling southbound on Main Street struck a pedestrian at the crosswalk at the Railroad Street intersection.
The unidentified pedestrian was taken to Fairview Hospital by the Southern Berkshire Ambulance Squad for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The alleged driver, Melanie Greenberg, was accused of failing to yield to a pedestrian and negligently operating a motor vehicle.
Police at the scene were assisted by members of the Great Barrington Fire Department and the Otis Ambulance. The accident remains under investigation by the Great Barrington Police Department.
